Dust - "Soulburst" 2016 (Attitude Recordings) CD/LP

”Who misses Badlands as much as I can carry on with DUST, where Jake E. Lee and his associates stopped at ” Voodoo Highway ” . The guys from Stockholm play well and hung from Seventies hard rock , which was only sprayed in the eighties again properly – and since then everything can remain so. Solander is a shouter and creates a positive vibe between Ray Gillen and Tony Martin , and Johan Niskanen convinces as his pretty versatile right-hand man , a guitarist who has the blues , but this does not fall into lethargy , but also so many times so correctly. Unfortunately, the songs are not as catchy to bring instantly glow. One has to shon a bit pure work , but then you get an album with earth and nature”. ( 8/10 )

Dust - "Soulburst" 2016 (Attitude Recordings) CD/LP

”The rock-bluesy album, Soulburst is already the best of this year, and who wants to top it, they must exert themselves”.

”My favorite is ”Waiting For You”, because the voice and the guitar solo – you tear the heart and soul from the body and try to release all fires of hell. Sure, since GARY MOORE can, you need to make them fit, and here it breathe new life and they play so skillfully – this must be put first as a favourite. That, dear people is an absolute hammer part, by far the highest number on a lousy good album. ”Blind” includes not only the album, it also completes it, it rounds up the piece of the CD. What DUST deliver here is great cinema. Especially when you consider that the guys after 2014 just baked their second album”. (10/10)

Dust - "Soulburst" 2016 (Attitude Recordings) CD

“Classic Rock never dies! This band is simply called Dust, and you can already estimate roughly what to expect, the music is forever timeless, even if it will over the years get dust, it will always be worth listening to. The great singer Roger Solander, sounds in his best moments as the eternal Ronnie James Dio or David Coverdale.Even the classic Hard Rock, the Dust play with the start of opener ”Rising Sun”, recalls the time being in bands like Dio / Rainbow, Whitesnake, Free or Bad Company. In the opener’s also there to listen to a cool, be tipptes guitar solo. Brings joy! That album was recorded live in the studio, is understandable given the prima-attuned way. So a living album has emerged that more than once spread the feeling of a jam session, and thus provides the joy of music to the fore. As mentioned, one with Roger Solander a Super singer in the series, the natural as the great models sounds, but with charm and spice gives the songs the necessary depth. And the guitarist Johan Niskanen, the bassist Bernt Ek and drummer Örjan Englin know their craft exquisite and bring the spirit of the glorious end 70 /80er Classic Hardrock times over very knowledgeable and authentic. Here the modern fans will again spin off, the guys with jeans habit – is the target group – with patches of Whitesnake, Rainbow and Dio found in the sound of Dust without hesitation immediately. Therefore, the target group is defined. Dust could cause a stir in the Classic Rock sector ….” (8/10)

Dust - "Soulburst" 2016 (Attitude Recordings) CD

”The album kicks off with “Sun Rising” which instantly shows the band hasn’t changed their winning concept from the debut. Next up is “The King Is Coming” which really shows the band’s Badlandsinfluences with the mighty Roger Solander sounding like Ray Gillen’s long lost cousin. Johan Niskanen is a bluesy riff machine with a lot of tasty leads under his belt, often skipping the rhythm guitar during the solos and leaving it up to the tightly knit power rhythm package of bass player Bernt Ek and drummer Örjan “Dr Rock” Englin to fill every crack and crevice. It’s however not all power riffs and heavy rhythms. “Waiting For You” is a cool blues oriented ballads, with a hint of vintage Whitesnake (when Dave still had a voice and they were a blues rock unit). “Free” is based on almost the same, more or less sacred and forbidden but still often used, riff pattern of Hendrix “Freedom”. A tad too close, but still a great song. “Soul Stealer” is another cool riff rocker in line with the rest of the album. The album closes with a cool Univibe drenched guitar floating on top of the groovy rhythm package and Solander soaring above it all with his bluesy melodic top notch vocals. All in all a solid follow-up to a killer album! If you’re into bands like Badlands, King Karma etc., don’t miss these guys out!”  – – http://starkmusicreviews.blogspot.se/2016/05/dust-soulburst-cd.html

Dust - "Tequila Shiver" 2014 (Dust Music) CD

- Galloping out of the snowy tundra of Sweden comes Dust waving the flag of classic hard rock with eleven songs from their debut CD Tequila Shiver. Taking their inspiration from Rainbow, Blackfoot, Uriah Heep and Led Zeppelin, the experienced four-piece pull from their individual strength to create one dynamic whole. Vocalist Roger Solander joins guitarist Johan Niskanen, drummer Örjan ‘Dr Rock’ Englin and bassist Bernt Ek in a celebration of a timeless era when thunderous rock rules the airwaves. Title track “Tequila Shiver” finds its roots in AC/DC-meets-Zeppelin with a fat staccato riff that could have sat anywhere on the brown bomber. Solander’s vocals are perfect for capturing the essence of ‘70s blues-rock and sits comfortably leading the pack. As the drum and bass fuse together in tandem rhythm, it’s clear the boys are on the prowl. “Black Dressed Woman” is the power-chord mating call with a pulsating beat and lyrical tale that would rival the mighty Coverdale.

Striking an intriguing pose is the band’s self-penned ode to themselves in the foot-stompin’ “Dust”. “She’s got my brain rollin’ in dust / Yeah, she’s a mind breaker / like a voodoo woman.” The catchy chorus is just the ticket to get the crowds punching the air and shouting the words immortalizing the band and the song. Songs like “Bad Boy”, “Stranger” and “Lies I Tell” are guitar riddle masterpieces. Having established their craft in tribute bands (Brainbow, Fan Heller), the bulwark of songcraft and attitude is showcase in their original compositions. Personal favorites “Keltic Wheel” and Van Halen-inspired instrumental “Mojo” rise like a phoenix with lambasting drums and roaring guitar. The six-minute epic “Changing Colours” is the record’s crowning achievement. Its slow melodic build explodes into a huge blues groove reminiscent of Deep Purple with Solander’s soulful vocals bring up the chills. “Losing My Mind” and “All Night Long” have shades of early Whitesnake, rough and ready with plenty of bump and grind.

Dust - "Tequila Shiver" 2014 (Dust Music) CD

-Combining a rough swagger, a reverance for "roots" music (true blues homage is all over the place here, just like with early Free) with hard rock sensibilities produces a shimmering rock experience in the form of 'Tequila Shiver', the ball busting debut release from Swedish rockers DUST. The band serve up a collection of hard, blues flavored rock, that is raw and laden with emotion. A mixture of muscular guitar riffs combined with blues playing from guitarist Johan Niskanen , powerful vocal delivery of Roger Solander, who's vocal stylings reminded me of the late Ray Gillen and David Coverdale. Then there is the tight rhythm section of Bernt Ek on bass and Orjan Englin on drums providing the band with a solid foundation. If Free had been heavier, this is what they would have sounded like. The album kicks right off with "Bad Boy" , a riff heavy rocker that goes for the throat. The title track is up next followed gut leveling "Stranger" and goes all the way through to "All Night Long " with no filler material. Just great bluesy, 70's influenced hard rock songs. The power and passion of this band is so tight that every note just bleeds "perfection". Any true rock/metal/blues/soul fan will want this album in their collection. If you're looking for hard rock album done right, then you've found your band! Crank it up and get lost in the power of the music. What a rush! - Highly Recommended

Dust - "Tequila Shiver" 2014 (Dust Music) CD

- I’ve seen this band has been in the starting blocks for quite some time, trying to build up a sort of hype around the upcoming album. Can’t say I usually fall for that, so I kept my expectations at a moderate level. Well, I truly wasn’t prepared to be blown away, but man, I WAS! Already from the opening track “Bad Boy” this Stockholm foursome show they mean business! There’s a pretty strong Badlands aura hovering over this band, and I honestly don’t mind that at all! There’s a band I truly miss. Dust do an impeccable job carrying that torch. Roger Solander has a knife sharp, outstanding rock voice, a bit similar to Ray Gillen when he goes for the high notes, Johan Niskanen’s brutal, crunchy guitar-work is wailing all over the place while bass player Bernt Ek holds the lower frequencies down with heaviness and precision and drummer Örjan “Dr Rock” Englin does his best to keep the Bonham legacy alive, and does really well. I love the way he makes the title track groove with the Bonhamish ghost strokes. This one does owe a bit more to Zeppelin, which Solander also shows vocally. “Stranger” kicks off with a mean, angry riff and then struts off in a cool, groovy way. “Black Dressed Woman” brings us back to Badlands territory with Englin grooving like a beast. “Changing Colours” is a cool bluesy acoustic, also with a Zeppelinish vibe to it. “Keltic Wheel” draws us back into the heavier Zeppelin territory, but only in the verse, I’d say. Dust are by no means any Zeppelin clones, even though the influences are quite clear. They have their personality and they also have the songs to show for. “Lies To Tell” is a prime example of Dust taking on a more personal sound. The riffs rule, Solander sings his ass off and I just love that groovy verse and the crushing chorus. Not really sure about a guitar solo “song”, "Mojo", on an album though, even if Niskanen is a great guitarist. Apart from this one I must say, I love every track on this album! Definitely one of the strongest debut albums this year has had to offer! Highly recommended!

Dust - "Tequila Shiver" 2014 (Dust Music) CD
